NBC/WSJ
Remember that Trump lost the popular vote in 2016, but he lost it narrowly, by about 2 points. That closeness was what allowed him to win the Electoral College vote and the White House. A popular vote loss of 7 points would make such an Electoral College win extremely unlikely in 2020.
But narrowing a 7-point deficit is not an easy task. And other numbers in the latest NBC/WSJ poll make clear just how complicated that challenge may be. 7%の支持率の差は2016年より状況がトランプにとって厳しいことを示す
Trump has lost ground with many different kinds of voters. Start with education. One of Trump’s key strengths among voters has been his support among blue-collar workers without a college degree. In 2016, he lost college graduates by about 9 points, but won voters without a degree by about 8 points. There was an “education gap” in the results, but Trump gained as much as he lost in it. 0206日出づる処の名無し2020/06/08(月) 03:16:32.93ID:+K1HWi57 But this week’s poll finds him leading among those without a degree by only about 3 points, while he is losing voters with a degree by 24 points. That’s a massive edge for Biden among voters with a degree and a much smaller edge for Trump among voters that are a big part of his base.
And even if Trump can win back a chunk of his non-degree vote, the losses among those with a degree is sizable. He’d likely need to chip into that Biden’s college and graduate-degree edge to get a margin more to his liking.
Gender poses a similar problem. Trump has always leaned on male voters and done worse with women. He won men by about 12 points in 2016 and lost women by the same amount, about 12 points.
But in the new NBC/WSJ poll, his edge with men has eroded to about 8 points, and his deficit with women has exploded to 21 points.
In the new poll, Trump does better with African American and Hispanic voters than he did in 2016, though he still isn’t close to winning those groups. But his edge with white voters is down to just 6 points ? 49 percent to 43 percent for Biden ? and white voters still make up the overwhelming majority of the electorate. That 43 percent for Biden is an especially significant number. https://mofa.go.jp/mofaj/press/danwa/page4_005159.html

On Monday, the Trump campaign started rolling out the more aggressive tactics by lambasting liberals who want to defund police departments and divert some of that money to other community programs. The campaign hosted a call with reporters about that idea and issued two statements on Biden and policing. White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany also countered the liberal movement with comments in support of police during her afternoon press briefing.
Trump himself has grown frustrated by the negative polling in recent weeks, confounded by Biden’s lead and frustrated by his own campaign actions and execution of strategy during the pandemic. The president is increasingly nostalgic about his 2016 race and the team that led him to victory ? much the way a man pines for an ex without remembering all of the relationship’s flaws, joked one Republican close to the White House. An incumbent’s campaign is inherently different than an upstart one, the Republican added, but Trump remains fixated on the 2016 win, those aides and those messages.

A May 31 memo from the FBI’s Washington field office reported “no intelligence indicating Antifa involvement/presence” in violent activities in the nation’s capital. Not a single one of the first 22 protest-related indictments nationwide indicated that antifa played a role in looting or property destruction. An Associated Press review of 217 arrests in Minneapolis and DC found that “of those charged with such offenses as curfew violations, rioting and failure to obey law enforcement, only a handful appeared to have any affiliation with organized groups.”
The Trump administration’s attacks on antifa do not actually reflect the reality on the ground or the minuscule “threat” from the group. Instead, they serve primarily to stigmatize the protests themselves ? and justify harsh police responses. Take, for example, Trump’s repeated vows to label antifa a terrorist organization. He cannot do this legally: The federal government maintains a list of foreign terrorist organizations (FTOs); while there are antifa activists outside the US, the domestic groups do not have any meaningful organizational linkages with them. There is no such thing as a domestic terrorism designation, and it would require an act by Congress to create one. The president’s proposal is, legally speaking, impossible.

President Donald Trump has a long history of toying with conspiracy theories, many of which get little traction or even reaction. But his Twitter message on Tuesday suggesting that the 75-year-old man whose head was cracked open by Buffalo law enforcement last week was a tech-savvy “ANTIFA provocateur” prompted an immediate outcry, as well as support for the still-hospitalized victim.
Gugino’s attorney, Kelly Zarcone, pushed back against the president. “Martin has always been a PEACEFUL protestor because he cares about today’s society,” Zarcone said in a statement reported Tuesday by various media outlets. “He is also a typical Western New Yorker who loves his family.”
“No one from law enforcement has even suggested anything otherwise so we are at a loss to understand why the President of the United States would make such dark, dangerous, and untrue accusations against him,” Zarcone said, adding that although “Martin is out of ICU,” he is “still hospitalized and truly needs to rest.” The president’s conspiratorial social media post comes after a video of the encounter last Thursday between Gugino and officers in Buffalo, N.Y. ? shot by local NPR affiliate WBFO ? went viral online amid nationwide protests in the wake of the killing of George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, by Minneapolis police. 0296日出づる処の名無し2020/06/10(水) 08:23:28.85ID:fc3v2FEehttps://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2020-06-09/trump-75-year-old-man Opinion: Even Trump supporters can’t possibly believe the 75-year-old bloodied by Buffalo police is antifa トランプ大統領の支持者でさえバッファロー警官により出血した75歳の男がアンチファ だとは思うことができない By Jon HealeyDeputy Editorial Page Editor June 9, 20209:45 AM Has President Trump finally found a way to dissolve his own coalition?

One America News Network claimed that Gugino, an activist from a Buffalo suburb, was using "common antifa tactics" when he was pushed by police. OANN reporter Kristian Rouz said the incident "could be the result of a false flag provocation by far-left group antifa."
Trump and many of his supporters have claimed with little evidence that antifa has been executing plans to cause unrest and spark violence during recent protests. Antifa, a loosely organized network of groups that use direct action to confront far-right and fascist groups, in reality has been found to have little involvement with the protests despite rumors circulating online and claims from some law enforcement officials.
Rouz, who previously worked for the Russian state media organization Sputnik, has a record of pushing baseless conspiracy theories on OANN. Last month, Rouz claimed that the coronavirus was a plot for "population control" by George Soros, Bill Gates, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Bill and Hillary Clinton and China.
