“Microsoft Update カタログ”

　米Microsoftは10月26日（現地時間）、Windows向けの更新プログラム「KB4577586」を公開した。「Adobe Flash Player」が今年12月31日でサポート終了を迎えるにあたり、システムから「Adobe Flash Player」を削除した際の影響をテスト・検証するためのオプションパッチで、以前から提供が予告されていたものだ。

　「KB4577586」を適用すると、OSにインストールされている「Adobe Flash Player」は削除される。パッチを適用した後はアンインストールできないので注意したい。このパッチを適用した後に「Adobe Flash Player」が再び必要になった場合は、復元ポイントで機能で適用前の環境へロールバックするか、OSを再インストールする必要がある。

　なお、「KB4577586」は今のところ“Microsoft Update カタログ”での配布のみとなっている。あくまでテストを目的としており、必要がなければまだ適用しなくてよい。“Windows Server Update Service（WSUS）”での提供は2021年初頭になるという。

　一方、一般向けには「Internet Explorer 11」で「Adobe Flash Player」のサポート終了を通知する取り組みが展開中。サポート終了を知らせ、アンインストールを促すダイアログが「Adobe Flash Player」から表示されることもある。もう「Adobe Flash Player」を使う予定がないのであれば、案内に従ってアンインストールしてしまってもよいだろう。
