お金には時間価値がある。例えば、今の金利が年率5％だとすると、現在の100万円は1年後には105万円になる。100万円が現在価値で、1年後の105万円は将来価値、5万円は時間価値である。その5％をファイナンス理論では割引率とも言う。
ところが今は低金利の時代。日銀はゼロ金利政策をとっている。ゼロ金利では1年後の理論価値も100万円。「1年後の105万円」のほうが、ファイナンス理論的には合理的な考え方である。ゼロ金利でお金を借りて、1年後の105万円に投資すれば、ほぼノーリスクで5万円が手に入ることになる。こういった資産を積み重ねるのが、資産家の考え方だ。
低金利の時にお金を借りて、高利回り商品や不動産賃貸収入など将来価値が高い商品またはそれに応じたインカムゲインが期待出来る商品に投資すれば、スプレッドが取れることになる。これが、お金に働かせ、資産を積み重ねるという富裕層の代表的な考え方だ。
金融商品の価値や企業価値をはかる場合もファイナンス理論が基本となる。例えば、日経平均先物は日経平均を指定された期日で買う取引である。3月限月の日経平均先物を買うということは、3月のSQで日経平均225銘柄を買うという契約である。
いま日経平均を買うのに対して、その時間的価値すなわち調達金利の日数分が日経平均指数より割高になる。一方、いま日経平均を買えば、3月SQまでに225銘柄のうち1/2月配当企業の配当を受け取れるはずである。
したがって、現在の日経平均に保有期間の金利を乗せ、保有期間の配当見込み額を引いたものが日経平均の理論値となる。日経平均先物は常に、理論価格を中心に動いている。
今の低金利では、日経の理論値は日経平均指数から10円程度高いだけだ。日本企業の大半が配当する3/9月の予想配当は130円くらいになるため、3/9月末をまたぐ先物の理論価格は差し引き120円ほどのディスカウントになる。3月またぎの先物の価格が安いのはそのためだ。オプションも考え方は一緒だが、レバレッジが高い分、タイムバリューは先物以上になる。
企業価値についても同じような考えた方が出来る。外国人投資家は、株式投資において自己資本利益率（ROE）や投資収益率（ROI）を重視する。それは、その会社が自己資本や投資金額に対してどれだけリターンを上げるかを割引率として、企業価値を時間価値で割り引いて測定するファイナンス理論に添ったものだからだろう。内部収益率（IRR）、割引現在価値（NPV）というM&Aにおいて企業価値を測定する指標もファイナンス理論の概念である。
「今の100万円」を選ぶのは行動経済学
しかし、低金利だと分かっていても多くの人が「1年後の105万円」よりも「今の100万円」を選ぶのも事実だ。これは行動経済学で説明できる。
行動経済学とは、人間が必ずしも合理的に行動するとは限らないことを人間の行動を観察することで説明したものだ。経済行動にはランダムなようで一定の法則を見出すことができる。従来の経済学では理論的に示せなかったことも行動経済学では説明がつくことも多い。
たとえば、人間は「空いている美味しいラーメン屋」より「まずくても混んでいて行列が出来るラーメン屋」を選ぶ傾向が強いという。これは理論では説明できない。これは行動経済学では、ハーディング効果と言われている。
月6000円の商品を「一日あたりコーヒー一杯の値段」と奨めるのも、購買意欲を高めるための行動経済学で説明される。通販などで「1万5000円のところを今回は特別に1万円」とするのも行動経済学に訴えるものである。
どちらを選ぶかは重要ではない 大事なのは……
リスクをあまり負いたくないお金持ちであれば「1年後の105万円」を選ぶだろう。確実性、損失回避といった投資行動に走る必要はなく、理論的に資産を積み重ねるほうを選ぶはずだ。
しかし株式投資家のお金持ちであれば「今の100万円」を選ぶ人もいるはずだ。なぜなら、1年後の105万円は市場金利より高いリターンなのは間違いないが、あくまでも5％である。今の相場であれば5%以上のリターンが得られると考える人もいるだろう。
投資において機会損失は大きなロスだとも言える。特に今は低金利の時代であり、預金や債券では超過リターンは期待出来ない。日経平均はアベノミクス以来6年連続の前年比プラスで推移しており、26年ぶりに高値を付けてきた。ここで投資しないと機会損失と考える。
結論を申すとどちらを選ぶかは重要ではない。その時々の環境や自身の状況を鑑みて、どう最良の選択をするのかが重要で、それができるのがお金持ちということだ。
