<7つのシナリオ> A year ago, Lawfare’s Benjamin Wittes and Quinta Jurecic outlined seven possible scenarios about Trump and Russia, arranged from most innocent to most guilty. Fifth on that list was “Russian Intelligence Actively Penetrated the Trump Campaign ?And Trump Knew or Should Have Known,” escalating from there to #6 “Kompromat,” and topping out at the once unimaginable #7, “The President of the United States is a Russian Agent.” After the latest disclosures, we’re steadily into Scenario #5, and can easily imagine #6.
The Cohen and Manafort court documents all provide new details, revelations, and hints of more to come. They’re a reminder, also, that Mueller’s investigation continues alongside an investigation by federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York that clearly alleges that Donald Trump participated in a felony, directing Cohen to violate campaign finance laws to cover up extramarital affairs.
<Points of Contact> For years, Russia has known compromising material on the president’s business empire and his primary lawyer.(ry 0103日出づる処の名無し2018/12/08(土) 19:11:26.62ID:yCxUsiPb <Leverage> The most obvious scenario is the most likely scenario.
Meanwhile, one of the most intriguing aspects of the Manafort document came in its final paragraphs, where Mueller’s team outlines that the former campaign chairman had been in contact with various administration officials well into 2018. “A review of documents recovered from a search of Manafort’s electronic documents demonstrates additional contacts with Administration officials,” the report says. What?and who?Mueller doesn’t hint at, but it’s surely part of the massive iceberg of evidence resting just below the surface of this case.
Put together all the clues, and Occam’s Razor comes to mind: The most obvious scenario is the most likely scenario. And the most likely scenario now is that there was no division between the apparent Trump-Russian collusion on business matters and in the election. The coincidences are piling up. The conversations are piling up.
And Mueller’s evidence is clearly piling up as well. 0104日出づる処の名無し2018/12/08(土) 19:17:17.36ID:yCxUsiPbhttp://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/07/opinion/trump-collusion-cohen-manafort.html New York Times: Is This the Beginning of the End for Trump? ? Max Bergmann, Sam Berger 12.07.18 10:38 PM ET モラー特別検察官はトランプ大統領のロシア疑惑の共謀を暴く
Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation will likely implicate the president, his campaign, and his close associates in aiding and abetting a Russian conspiracy against the United States to undermine the 2016 election.
First, Mueller has clearly identified collusion in the efforts of Trump aides and associates to contact WikiLeaks. In a draft plea agreement provided to conservative operative Jerome Corsi, Mueller details how Roger Stone, who the special counsel notes was in frequent contact with Donald Trump and senior campaign officials, directed Corsi to connect with WikiLeaks about the trove of stolen materials it received from Russia. Corsi subsequently communicated WikiLeaks’ release plan back to Stone, and the Trump campaign built its final message around the email release. That is collusion.
Second, we now know that Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen and former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn have provided evidence to Mueller related to collusion. In Cohen’s sentencing memo, Mueller said that Cohen provided his office with “useful information” on “Russia-related matters core to its investigation.” One of those central elements, according to the Justice Department: “any links and/or coordination” between the Kremlin and Trump campaign figures. Collusion, in other words. 0121日出づる処の名無し2018/12/09(日) 04:52:46.23ID:0W7EmPpc Third, Mueller has found evidence that Trump was compromised by a hostile foreign power during the election. In his plea deal, Cohen revealed that Trump had repeatedly lied to voters about the then-candidate’s financial ties to Russia. While Trump claimed during the campaign to have no business dealings with Russia, he was negotiating a wildly lucrative business deal not simply with Russian businessmen, but also involving with the Kremlin itself. Trump’s team even reportedly tried to bribe Russian President Vladimir Putin by offering him a $50 million penthouse.
Fourth, we know that Trump has engaged in an increasingly brazen attempt to cover up his actions: installing a political crony to head the Department of Justice by potentially illegal means in an effort to shut down the investigation; using his former campaign chairman and convicted criminal Paul Manafort to find out information about Mueller’s investigation; and even appearing to offer Manafort a pardon if he helps him obstruct the Russia probe. These may be components of an obstruction of justice case, but they also provide strongly circumstantial data points as to how serious Trump himself views the allegations of collusion being levelled against him.
Lastly, federal prosecutors have told us Trump broke the law to influence the 2016 election by hiding evidence of his affairs. Trump clearly had no qualms about breaking the law to win an election.
In the face of what Mueller has revealed, there is little question where this is going. Mueller may still be only showing us part of his hand, but it’s a damn good hand. He has signalled to us he’s found collusion. 0122日出づる処の名無し2018/12/09(日) 09:13:41.15ID:0W7EmPpchttp://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/siege-warfare-republican-anxiety-spikes-as-trump-faces-growing-legal-and-political-perils/2018/12/08/679b785a-fa59-11e8-863c-9e2f864d47e7_story.html Washington Post: ‘Siege warfare’: Republican anxiety spikes as Trump faces growing legal and political perils ? “Trump remains headstrong in his belief that he can outsmart adversaries and weather any threats, according to advisers. In the Russia probe, he continues to roar denials, dubiously proclaiming that the latest allegations of wrongdoing by his former associates ‘totally clear’ him,” the report says. This confidence is not shared by other Republicans.
“Some GOP senators were particularly shaken by last week’s revelation that former national security adviser Michael Flynn had met with Mueller’s team 19 separate times ? a distressing signal to them that the probe may be more serious than they had been led to assume,” the report said, sourcing the information to “senior Republican officials.”

It may just be one of the most perfect?and least celebrated?success stories of the American dream: a poor, 18-year-old immigrant moves to New York City, escaping economic hardship in her homeland of Scotland. She falls in love with the son of two German migrants, and the couple eventually builds a family together consisting of five healthy, happy children; one of whom will eventually become the president of the United States. Despite the obvious ability his family history had to pull on voters’ heartstrings across the country, the Republican candidate made no mention of Mary Anne Trump or even his Scottish roots on his campaign website. And yet, she seems to have had an enormous influence on the president’s life. Trump has previously written about the love and respect he held for his mother and how that shaped his relationships with the women in his life. ●We now know several Russian officials reached out to a half dozen Republicans very close to Trump and his campaign, including his eldest son, his closest adviser, his lawyer, and his campaign manager. We now know they took the meetings, often enthusiastically, during and after the campaign.
●We now know Russia offered in those chats campaign assistance ? “synergy,” they called it. We know now of no one around Trump who alerted the FBI of this effort to subvert our elections.
●We now know that 12 Russian intelligence officers were indicted for hacking the DNC and systematically releasing material for the purpose of hurting the Clinton campaign via WikiLeaks.
●We know that Trump associates Roger Stone and Jerome Corsi attempted ? successfully, in some instances ? to get in touch with WikiLeaks and that they are under investigation for whether they had advance knowledge about the email dumps.
●We now know Donald Trump, Jr and others took a meeting with Russians promising dirt on Hillary Clinton. We now know Don, Jr., when approached with the promise of dirt, wrote: “If it’s what you say I love it especially later in the summer.”
●We now know Trump was negotiating a Trump property in Moscow during the presidential campaign ? and hid this from the public and lied about it. We now know Mueller believes, based on his court filing, the “Moscow Project was a lucrative business opportunity that sought, and likely required, the assistance of the Russian government.” 0152日出づる処の名無し2018/12/10(月) 05:03:07.92ID:XCVMPINc ●We now know every arm of the US intelligence community concluded Russia sought to systematically influence the election outcome. We now know this was an unanimous conclusion, save one dissent: Trump.
●We now know Trump officials continued talking with the Russians during the post-election transition. We now know Jared Kushner and Jeff Sessions failed to initially disclose any contacts with Russians on their government forms.
●We now know Jared Kushner suggested a secret backchannel with the Russians, which had it happened, would have been free of US eavesdropping.
●We now know Trump soured on FBI director James Comey, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and White House counsel Don McGahn in part over their handling of the probe.
●We now know Paul Manafort, who ran the Trump campaign in the summer of 2016, lied about his Russia contacts, was indicted, and is going to jail.
●We now know Flynn lied about his Russian contacts, was fired and pleaded guilty, after agreeing to become a key witness in the investigation.
●We now know Cohen lied about his Russian contacts, was indicted, and then flipped to become a key witness against Trump.

France opened a probe into possible Russian interference behind the country’s Yellow Vest protests, after reports that social-media accounts linked to Moscow have increasingly targeted the movement. According to the Alliance for Securing Democracy, about 600 Twitter accounts known to promote Kremlin views have begun focusing on France, boosting their use of the hashtag #giletsjaunes, the French name for the Yellow Vest movement. French security services are looking at the situation, Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said Sunday in a radio interview with RTL.
Russia has been criticized for using social media to influence elections in the U.S. and elsewhere. Attempts to use fake news reports and cyberattacks to undercut the 2017 campaign of French President Emmanuel Macron failed, but Russian-linked sites have pushed questionable reports of a mutiny among police, and of officers’ support for the protests.
“An investigation is now underway,” Le Drian said. “I will not make comments before the investigation has brought conclusions.” 0154日出づる処の名無し2018/12/10(月) 07:04:54.99ID:XCVMPINchttps://www.nikkei.com/article/DGXMZO38667640X01C18A2000000/ [FT]中国のアフリカへの鉄道投資、脱線気味 2018/12/10 5:50日本経済新聞 電子版

Trump has also mentioned three other candidates besides Meadows, according to a source with direct knowledge. I don't yet have their names. 下院の超保守派であるFreedom Caucus議長のMark Meadows議員を起用
Nick Ayers, previously considered the favorite, is out of the running to be Kelly's replacement, according to sources with direct knowledge. 以前に噂されたNick Ayers氏の起用はないとの説 "Nick couldn't give POTUS a two-year commitment, so he's going to help him on the outside instead," one of these sources told me. (This news was first reported by the Wall Street Journal.) Ayers is expected to run the pro-Trump outside group America First, according to another source with direct knowledge. Trump will make a decision on Kelly's replacement by the end of the year, the source said.
Between the lines: Trump doesn't know what he's going to do. Ayers, the vice president's chief of staff, was his first choice for the job. Jared and Ivanka, who have been determined to get rid of Kelly, have advocated for Ayers, who has been secretly discussing the job with Trump in the executive residence for months. イヴァンカとクシュナーはケリーと対立しAyersをおしていた The hitch: Ayers told Trump he'd only commit to taking the job until next spring ? as chief caretaker until Trump finds a permanent solution. Even people opposing Ayers have told me that if he'd wanted the job, he could have had it.
The bottom line: This has left Trump scratching around for a new chief after announcing on Saturday that Kelly will leave the White House at the end of the year. Behind the scenes: On Friday night, the most senior White House staff and their spouses, around 50 in all, sat around a long table for Christmas dinner in the State Dining Room of the executive residence. Christmas trees lined the walls and waiters served squash soup, fish and chocolate cake. A military choir sang Christmas carols, "Silent Night" and "Joy to the World," and a military band played.
Ayers showed up late to the dinner, several guests noticed. Unbeknownst to most everyone there, he'd been meeting with Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and Kelly to secretly discuss the terms of Kelly's departure and Ayers' likely ascent to chief of staff, according to two sources briefed on the meeting.
They decided Kelly would announce his departure to staff on Monday. But Trump got ahead of him, announcing his exit to reporters on Saturday in an impromptu press gaggle on the White House lawn. Two guests described the dinner as "awkward" because the elephant in the room ? Trump's plan to oust Kelly and replace him with Ayers ? wasn't brought up as the two sat at the table. Instead, sources recalled, Trump gave a generic pep talk: "We are doing a great job. You guys all work hard. Chief Kelly has done a great job." "We all knew something was up, but nobody talked about it," one dinner attendee told me. 0163日出づる処の名無し2018/12/10(月) 11:15:56.85ID:XCVMPINc>>161 ワシントン・ポスト http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/nick-ayers-trumps-once-likely-replacement-for-chief-of-staff-john-kelly-wont-take-the-job/2018/12/09/5ecf5a10-fbf9-11e8-ad40-cdfd0e0dd65a_story.html Washington Post: Nick Ayers, Trump's once-likely replacement for chief of staff ohn Kelly, won't take the job 0164日出づる処の名無し2018/12/10(月) 11:21:00.97ID:XCVMPINchttp://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/09/us/trump-organization-federal-prosecutors.html New York Times: Done With Michael Cohen, Federal Prosecutors Shift Focus to Trump Family Business ? Pompeo has been in the State Department just shy of eight months, but no amount of arrogance can overcome the diplomatic flubs of President Donald Trump’s administration. “Pompeo has managed to worsen the State Department’s already abysmal standing with every significant constituency. Legislators, major allies, the media, career staff, even North Korea are alienated,” Diehl wrote Sunday. “The only satisfied customer may be President Trump ? and even he has grounds for grievance.” Pompeo said that he would get “back our swagger” in the State Department after the president butted heads with former Sec. Rex Tilson. It didn’t exactly work out, however. The Republican Congress wasn’t impressed. 0170日出づる処の名無し2018/12/10(月) 14:31:38.93ID:XCVMPINc Already the Senate voted to stop support for Saudi Arabia’s intervention in Yemen. The head of the International Monetary Fund said Pompeo had no clue what he was talking about. Worst for the U.S. was when the European Union voted for ways to circumvent new Trump sanctions against Iran.
The latter was the most difficult part Trump clashed with Pompeo. “Trump proclaimed that he was ‘ready, willing, and able’ to negotiate a new deal, and probably he meant it; after all, he has pivoted from confrontation to negotiation with North Korea and China,” Diehl wrote. The reality was something else. After outlining 12 conditions for Iran to meet that would put Trump in a position to denounce Pompeo or, if Iran resumes nuclear activity, go to war.
“Evidently, the North Korean ruler has decided he can’t do business with Pompeo. Maybe that’s because the secretary is refusing to give in to Kim’s unreasonable demands for sanctions relief and a peace declaration. But perhaps the dictator is also put off by the #swagger,” Diehl noted.
Why it matters: Butina previously pleaded not guilty in July to accusations that she attempted to set up a "backchannel" between the Kremlin and the Republican Party while acting at the direction of a "high-level" Russian official. It's worth noting her charges are not part of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, but still illuminate another component of Russia's massive influence operation in the U.S. Everybody Says Mueller Is Almost Done. What If He Isn’t? By Jonathan Chait@jonathanchait
In late 2015, the British spy agency GCHQ, and then other Western intelligence agencies, learned of suspicious interactions between Russian agents and Donald Trump’s inner circle. By the summer of 2016, James Comey testified Friday, the FBI had opened a counterintelligence probe into four people in the Trump campaign. In May 2017, Robert Mueller was appointed to investigate Russian election interference.
These dates give us some sense of the scale and timing of the unfolding mystery. It took about a year and a half from the first indications of nefarious ties between Trump and Russia to the beginning of Mueller’s investigation. And it has taken about another year and a half from that point to last week, when Mueller filed sentencing recommendations for Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort, and Michael Cohen.
モラー特別検察官の捜査がどういう状況にあるかは誰も知らないので捜査終了接近というのは 憶測に過ぎない Reporters and commentators have begun saying Mueller’s probe is reaching its final stages. But given that Mueller’s operation is utterly airtight, this conclusion is almost certainly a matter of speculation, which has gained wide acceptance through repetition. Nobody actually knows if the probe is almost over. The gap between what Mueller has produced in public and what may be yet to come remains vast. 0186日出づる処の名無し2018/12/11(火) 09:00:28.10ID:bqhCXlYK マイケル・コーエンがロシア側に接近されたのは2015年 One of those scraps is a revelation from the sentencing memo of Michael Cohen, who was approached by a Russian agent in 2015 about a business deal.
ロシアの諜報機関のトランプ接近は1987年に始まる This nugget seemed to move back the timeline of Trump’s entanglement with Moscow. But public reporting has already provided a much richer narrative. Russian intelligence has been sniffing around Trump since at least 1987. Over the last decade, Trump has grown increasingly reliant on Russian investment, which is a leverage tool used by Moscow. It was in July 2015, before any of this reached the radars of Western intelligence or law enforcement, the Russian spy Maria Butina asked Donald Trump in a public forum if he would agree to lift sanctions on her country. Trump explained that yes, he would, because Vladimir Putin had little respect for Obama, and Trump would restore this respect and lift the sanctions: トランプ陣営の14人がロシア側に接近されたと公表されたが The running total of Trump staffers and cronies who were approached by Russians during the campaign has grown to 14. It was common knowledge within the Trump campaign that Russia was working on Trump’s behalf. Trump openly asked for Russian help finding more stolen emails from his opponent, and they obliged immediately.

But prosecuting even a single person, let alone a large conspiracy, can take a lot of time. It’s also possible there remains a long way to go.
