Why we ask
Hello,
------
We've sent a couple emails since launching our mid-year fundraising campaign, so we thought it was important to take a moment to explain why these messages are so crucial to Mozilla's mission.
Here’s what’s going on: Recent U.S. federal funding cuts have eliminated millions of dollars from Mozilla’s budget. That’s funding we relied on to power programs like the Responsible Computing Challenge and Common Voice — efforts that put ethics, equity, and human dignity at the heart of emerging technology.
In the face of those cuts, Mozilla made a choice to stand firm. We’re keeping these programs going. And we’re doing it by turning to the people who have always had our back: our community.
Because that’s what makes Mozilla different. We’re sustained by a global movement of individuals who believe in a better internet — and who step up when it matters most.
Last year, more than 100,000 people contributed to Mozilla.
